Cowra Hospital Concept Design

The Cowra community has been provided with its first look at designs for the new $110.2 million Cowra Hospital marking a significant milestone for the redevelopment. The concept design showcases the new, purpose built health facility in Cowra which will transform health services and facilities in the region.

Located across two levels on the existing site, the redevelopment will deliver a new hospital and provide enhanced health services within a modern facility for patients, staff and the Cowra community for generations to come.

The Cowra community has played a key role shaping the design for the new Cowra hospital which will provide upgraded inpatient beds and new health services including the hospital’s first CT scanner and an ultrasound.
The new $110.2 million hospital will deliver:

  • An emergency department,
  • A general medical and surgery inpatient ward,
  • A peri-operative service (a range of surgical procedures),
  • A maternity unit with a dedicated nursery,
  • Ambulatory care (services for outpatients),
  • Oral health (dental clinic),
  • Renal dialysis (dialysis treatment for outpatients),
  • Oncology (chemotherapy treatments),
  • Community Health and Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol services,
  • Tresillian inpatient beds for new mothers and their babies, and
  • A CT Scanner and an Ultrasound

The community is being encouraged to share their feedback on the concept design and ask questions at a series of stakeholder and community information sessions with the project team. Click here for details

Construction is on track to commence in 2023 and the community will continue to be updated as planning progresses and we move towards construction.

The Cowra Hospital redevelopment is part of the NSW Government’s record $11.9 billion investment in health infrastructure over four years to 2025-26, with nearly a third of the capital allocation in this financial year going towards regional and rural health facilities.

Since 2011, the government has established more than 180 hospitals and health facilities across NSW, with more than 130 currently underway – of those, more than 90 are in rural and regional areas.
